Review: Nana traces the story of two girls who met by pure coincidence on a train to Tokyo to start a new chapter in life. Interestingly, they also share the same name - Nana. On the surface, these women are complete opposites of each other. Osaki Nana is a punk rocker, is cool and worldly-wise. Komatsu Nana is simple, sometimes immature, and often swept away by the smallest of things. Fate has them meet while looking for a place to stay in Tokyo and the two end up sharing an apartment. Together, they develop a strong friendship as they share their dreams and the obstacles they face in achieving their goals.
Nana offers a compelling story with the women for once, playing the leading role in their lives. Life brings with it a mixture of joy, happiness, betrayal, mistakes - and the nightmare of consequences. As the two women go out in search of direction in life, they grow and develop as they face their mistakes, overcome obstacles and never lose hope. Life is complicated. I would highly recommend Nana as a compelling drama - and then the music is also a great addition!
